Authentic wooden architectural pieces from the 15th century are rare. This Gothic door, retaining all it's original panels is no doubt one of very few such pieces in existence.

Provinance: From the collection of Dr. John E. Stillwell (1853-1930), well known American antiquarian collector. Sold at auction in 1927 in New York for $225 (about $4,500 in today's dollars). Original auction catalogue listing attached to back of door.
In very good condition for its age. Splits to some panels, wear and minor repairs to the frame consistent with age. The carving in excellent, crisp condition. Retains one hinge.
