An Alpine region pine box, with iron mounts and simple line carving.  Made in the Alps area of Austria or southern Germany around 1500.
 
Length 21", depth 12", height 12".
 
Condition:  All original including iron work.  Lock is present but no key; hasp is broken but all parts are there (partly inserted in the lock).  Two missing L brackets at lower front.  Attractive early patina.
